Is it unsafe to use cell phones while driving? Should there be a law prohibiting it?

Virginia has passed that 18 and under that drive and use cell phones are breaking the law. Son (19) and I agree that this law should apply to all peopele. I have had too many near misses with people on cell phones. I personally do not use cell while driving. New York has already passed this law. What say the rest of the states?Is it unsafe to use cell phones while driving? Should there be a law prohibiting it?
Actually the statistics, (when not funded by the makers of blue tooth technology) show that a person talking on a cell phone is not measurably more distracted than talking to a passenger in the back seat, only slightly more distracted than when talking to someone in the passenger seat, and is considerably less distracted than driving while eating.



And studies also show that blue tooth devices do not make the driver any less distracted than when holding the phone.



I am opposed to a blanket ban of cell phones while driving, but would support increased penalties for people who cause accidents while on the cell phone.



But as long as we allow eating while driving, it is ridiculous to outlaw cell phones.



And if you want scary, pull up next to someone on the interstate and notice that they have a novel on their steering wheel and are READING while driving. 47 states would not consider this illegal.Is it unsafe to use cell phones while driving? Should there be a law prohibiting it?
ear buds and blue tooth cell can be distracting if your not use to using it while driving ..its like sleep teaching it can make your mind wonder and think of something else Laws are just a band aid ..what we should do is teach driver to drive with listening and doing something else ..there is way to do this by programing your mind to listen and do something else .. the military has done this but i cannot remember the name is seem to help them concentrate more on the physical activity at same time listening to something else ..totally not associated with the activities they are doingIs it unsafe to use cell phones while driving?
