What do teachers do to your cell phones if you use them during class?

Do they give warnings first, do they let you use them if you don't get carried away with it, and what is the punishment? I've been out of high school for a long time, but back when I was in high school we had those old school nokia cell phones nothing fancy, and cell phones weren't as popular as they are now. Do you text in class? What do teachers do to your cell phones if you use them during class?
It depends what the individual school's policy is and how the specific teacher likes to handle things. If a teacher catches a student on a phone and it is clearly disrupting their learning, they will take the phone off the student and hand it into the office in an envelope with the student's name written on it. The phone can then only be collected by a parent or guardian (this is how my school goes around it).

However, if a phone rings during lesson when the student clearly didn't aim for it to, the teacher will probably just ask the student to switch it off and put it away.

Then you get the really nice teachers who hand it back to you at the end of the lesson. Most of the time, it is by the student's compromise that this happens. When a student is caught, they always try the "If I hand it over, will you give it me back at the end of the lesson?" line. If the teacher declines, the student usually doesn't hand the phone over and ends up getting themselves in a lot more trouble.
No problem! Glad I helped you! :)

It kinda depends what teacher it is, the more relaxed types will tell you put it away then after a few times take it off you. The strict teachers take them off you straight away. My art teacher doesn't care at all haha. I don't really text, I tweet instead.
Some tell you to put them away, but others will take them up if they see them and turn them into the main office, you have to pay 15 dollars to get it backWhat do teachers do to your cell phones if you use them during class?
