What can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer?

The battery on my cell phone that i've had for approximately 2 years lasts about 10 minutes when fully charged. My last resort is buying a new battery. What can I do to make the battery life longer? It is a lithium ion battery in a kyocera cell phone.

If i do have to buy a new battery? How much would it cost me or would it be cheaper to just buy a new phone? What can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer?
I've always heard that you should let your battery run all the way down, then charge it completely. Do this a few times. It's kinda like resetting the memory.
Make the backlight stay on at shorter time intervals (i.e. 5 sec instead of 10 sec). What can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer?
Whenever I sign up for a new phone service, I always "sweet talk" the counter person into giving me an extra battery before I sign the contract. So I have a spare. Now, to get your battery to last longer, let the charge run completely dead, rub a strong magnet over the outside of the casings back side, sprinkle a pinch of salt over it while mumbling the incantation "back to life" ten times over the battery. This must be done at the darkest hour of the night also... Ok Ok.. just stop at the magnet and allow the battery to fully charge (24 hours) before putting it back in use. It should be much better than it was before. Now stop using it so much. :P
Haha. Looser. Then you probobly have a REALLY CHEAP PHONE. Ok so like c;mon man... TEN YEARS. no wonder. my answer --%26gt; GET A NEW PHONE YA BUM. :PWhat can I do to make my cell phone battery work longer?
make sure it is completely discharged before recharging again. charge it up completely. A new battery is cheaper than a new phone (especially if you like yours.).. Also check your settings and keep things to a min/ like you said your back light. etc. Also drainage can happen because of your tower connection and the call you are making. If you are on digital it takes more batt power than normal setting. If you can surf the net this drains the battery too. Also if you roam a lot. As it is looking for a connection it will use more power.. these are all things to take in consideration.

btw.. it was recommended that i leave the charger on as long as possible and with my kyo there is no harm in overcharging these lion batts
make sure GSRM connection is at "when needed" instead if "always on" it just seems to help.
If you've had your current cell phone for 2 years, it is time for you to get a new cell phone. most cell carriers give you a new phone after a 2-year contract.

The problem can not be solved in anyway, there is no "training" your batter as people think.

The best way to go about it is to buy a new cell phone, b/c a new battery will cost you about $50, give or take. you may as well spend that amount towards a new phone, less hassle. b/c your new battery may present with the same problem you have now. so you would be back in the same position.
Well my phone is a new kyocera but I was having hte same problems so I got a new battery and the cost depends on the model; check with your company you have your contract through. Sometimes if you are still under contract you can upgrade to a new phone, which in the long road would be better because eventually you wont be able to buy parts for the old one.

I was recommended one trick though in keeping batteries lasting longer is to leave them on until they die. Then plug it in and let it charge for 10 hours. Turn it on and let it die again. You should do this 3 times.
If you do buy a new battery make sure you fully charge it before using it because that makes it last longer during usage.
you have to go out and buy a new one because you have most likely use the charging mechanism in it to much, I think your best bet is to go buy a new battery for like 20.00. You could of overcharged it to. Hey i have best anwser so rate me best thx.
I think you need to buy a new battery. I'm not familiar with shopping for cell phone batteries, but shop around online %26amp; maybe Circuit City. Also look at the mA-h ratings %26amp; buy the one with the bigger rating even though it will cost more. This way you may end up better than a new phone.

Once you've got a new battery, you can try to extend the life. First, if the charger is a cheapo unit, you can overcharge the battery. So don't leave it in the charge mode any longer than necessary. Second, batteries don't like excess heat. Try to keep the phone out of the sun or hot glove-boxes etc.
If you wait until your battery is almost completely dead before you re-charge it, it will last longer. Waiting until you have two or so bars left and then charging it actually decreases your battery life. When you do get a new battery, start charging it this way.
my advice for you is, when you charge your cell phone, do not overcharge your battery by leaving it on overnight, keep watching your cell phone until it is fully charge, in this way, you can make the life span of your battery longer, no it is much cheaper to buy new battery than buying new cell phones.
yOU SHOULD BE ALWAYS CONNECTED TO A CHARGER .
Get a new phone. I had a rental phone when mine was down, and it was kyocera, and they put a new battery on it for me, and it died so fast. Like, 24 hours on stand by. After that, with the new battery, kill it, then charge it for a full 24 hours. It stops charging automatically, so don't worry. leave it charging just to make sure. Do this 2 or 3 more times. This is if you get the old style of battery. New batteries are made like car batteries, where it doesn't keep a "memory" of how many times it's been charged
freeze them
